Origami Slinky

This is a cool Origami Slinky, which you can fold right now by watching the video above. It has several units, but works very well as a slinky. This video is by Jo Nakashima, and if you need help connecting more units to this Origami Slinky (it takes a lot of units!) , he also made a video on how to do that:

I think I will definitely try to fold this, though it probably takes a long time to fold all of those units! If you finish it, if you'd like, you can send me a picture of it (email to contact.origamithingsblog@gmail.com) with your comments on it! Thanks!
Have a great Tuesday! Bye!

Note: This video was found on justorigami.com, in the "Origami Toys" section. To contact them, go here. Thanks, Just Origami!

Memorial Day Origami 2013: The Origami Eagle

This is a nice Origami Eagle, and I think it is perfect for Memorial Day! To fold it, go to the links section.

If any of you are american (like me) you'll probably know what Memorial Day is for. Just in case you don't, however, I'll tell you...
Memorial Day is about remembering the men and women at arms who's lives where taken for america. It is an important day, especially if one of your relatives has died in a fight for america.
If you aren't american and are wondering why I chose to do the Origami Eagle for this occasion, I'll tell you this: the eagle is basically america's mascot, and is very symbolic. I won't go into all of that detail now, but I'll just tell you that there's a lot of meaning behind it.

Thank you for checking out my blog on Memorial Day! I hope you enjoy folding the Origami Eagle!

Origami Things Star Flower Diagram Updated!

Up top is a close-up and updated view of the diagram for the Origami Things Star Flower that I'm making. I'm going to put all of my diagrams in one place, here. The link takes you to the page that will have all of my diagrams. It doesn't have anything in it yet!
Thanks again to +Lesley Collier for giving me the idea that made it zoomed in the diagram. I won't explain it to you, because most of you probably don't really care. If you do care, then I'll tell you!

How To Do Origami Diagramming!

I have posted a new page on my blog called "Origami Diagramming". Check it out now! You'll be glad you did! Not many Origami websites have a page telling you how to make Origami Diagrams! They should, but they don't!

I'm New To Origami Diagramming With Inkscape!

Okay, so I got this program called inkscape (www.inkscape.org) . And I'm making Origami diagrams with it. Here's a basic Origami diagram of a Valley Fold. Please comment and tell me how I'm doing! I won't be offended if you say I could be doing better or just flat out say it needs a lot more work... like I said, I'm new to Origami diagraming!

Please comment and tell me how you think! Thanks! Have the best Saturday ever!

And don't say this diagram is super short... believe it or not, it took me an hour to do just that! I don't know how the people who make full Origami Diagrams survive!

Origami Pigasous

The Origami Pigasous, a divine pig that looks super cute and is very easy to fold. It's also extremely cheesy, but sometimes cheesy is good! +Lesley Collier introduced me to this funny pig, so we can all say thanks to her (even though in the last post she didn't want any credit! Well, sorry Lesley! :D) ! This little guy is based on the Pegasous, but it's a pig, therefor making it the Pigasous! The link to fold it is below.
Here's a picture of my Origami Pigasous:

Origami Dog

I know what you're thinking, "To much posts on the same website, Asher! Post about something else!", but I just couldn't resist this cute little Origami Puppy Dog! It's very good for decoration, and it is very easy to make. It just wouldn't do if I didn't post this! If you would like to fold it, then go to the links below.
Anyway, the guy that made the site I keep posting about, the site you keep going to (www.pem.org/sites/origami/) , well, that's not his actual site! On his official site, he has Origami books, DVDs, and more! His official site is http://www.origamido.com/. You should check it out!

Origami Polar Bear And The Storygami Penguin

This is a cool (but hard!) Origami Polar Bear. It's 3D, and it looks very nice. It's on the same website that I posted about in the last post, and it's certainly something to try!

Also something to try... the Storygami Penguin. If you aren't familiar with Storygami, I'll tell you it's just Origami, but with a story accompanying every fold. To find out more about it, fold it now!

Go To This Link, And Select The Polar Bear To Fold The Polar Bear, And The Penguin To Fold The Penguin!

That's it for the day! Have an excellent Wednesday!

Origami Phoenix

The phoenix is a mythical creature like a bird, but at death, it would burn into ashes, and out of the ashes would rise a new baby phoenix, that would redo this life cycle forever. I think that this creature is very symbolic.
Anyway, this Origami project is found on the same website as the last post. If you would like to fold it, then see the link below.

Go To This Site, Click Fold More Models, Click Origami Now, Click The Origami Phoenix To Fold!

Origami Leopard Seal

Okay, so today I've got a good Origami project... the Origami Leopard Seal!
I like this little seal. It is relatively easy to fold, and looks good! The folder tweaked the tail so that it is different from the traditional Origami Leopard Seal instructions. You don't need to cut it! Look below for the link to fold this seal.

Lesley Collier's Origami Things Star Flower

The photo above is a picture of an Origami Things Star Flower, folded by a fan of this blog, Lesley Collier! I asked her to post a picture of her's when she was done, and was wowed at how good she made it! It's better than mine! She even curled the petals, so it looks like a lily! Any comments to this post should be sure to give the credit to Lesley, not me! Thanks Lesley! By the way, sorry I haven't been posting lately! I've been busy! I promised myself that I would get back to it!

Awesome, isn't it?
