Origami Pikachu

Hey guys! I know that it's been a while since my last post, which was a preview for Funny Times, but I have decided to post here at least once every 2 weeks. I was going to drop the blog completely, and I basically did, but I kept it up so that you could view my old posts. But I am convinced that people like this blog, and that I need to keep at it. So I'm back to posting, but this time, I'm only posting at least twice a week now, because I'm really busy over on Funny Times with my friend Matthew. So don't expect much! ;)

Okay, so here is the Origami Pikachu, an extremely simple project. Pretty much everyone can do this one. That's why I chose it! If you are familiar with the Waterbomb Base won't have too much trouble with this at all. If you haven't already, then you can view my diagram for the Waterbomb Base to learn how to do it by clicking the link I gave you the first time!

Hope you have fun folding this!

The CrumpleGami Master! (Sample Of Funny Times)

Hey guys! I haven't been posting for a while on this blog, but that's going to change! Plus, this is my blog's 60th post anniversary! Don't want to miss it!

Yeah, 'cause I'm in it!

I was getting to that...

No you weren't!

Sure I was! Okay guys, that's Matthew Dymowski, one of my best friends ever! He is in our new blog. Anyway, so this is a sample of what our new blog, Funny Times's posts look like. But this time, we have Origami Instructions!  So let's begin!

Yeah! To make CrumpleGami, get nice, crisp, beautiful paper and fold it in half. Then you SMASH IT, BREAK IT, AND CRUMPLE IT SO HARD THAT IT LOOKS LIKE A DEMENTED BALL! Then you have, the beautiful work of art, CrumpleGami! It takes a master to do it!

Yeah... Okay, we're going to give you some picture instructions in case you didn't get that:

1. Okay, you will need the most manliest color (white) and it should be a rectangular piece. Now you should have this:

2. Now fold in half...

3. Now you just crumple it like there's no tomorrow!!! Get it as small as possible:

Okay, that's it! CrumpleGami! If you liked this post, then you can view more funny posts on me and Matt's blog, Funny Times: The Ultimate Duo!
Seeya everybody!

Have fun with the CrumpleGami!

The Origami Man (By Me!)

Hello again! Today we've got something special! I have made this really cool Origami Man!
I know, I know, he doesn't really have arms. But look at his body! It's awesome!
I came up with this all by myself, and I hope that I can make instructions for it soon, but I can't right now.
I've also been working on a surprise for you guys! Wait and see what it is!

Have a Manakin day!
(Okay, that wasn't very funny! :D)

The Origami Chocolate Bunny

Don't let the what I like to call "Paper Sculpting" in the picture above fool you! This model by Anita Barbour is incredibly easy!
This is a chocolate bunny. You can fold it from brown paper (like me) or fold it from gold foil. The "Paper Sculpting" in step 11 shapes the head, ears, and chest. Have fun with this model! Go here to fold it!
Sorry about the domain problems! I have changed it back to origamithingsblog.blogspot.com, and it's going to stay that way, because I had numerous problems with search engines! :D

Thanks! Have a chocolatey day!

Am I Dead? The Origami Rotor

Why did I ask in the post title "Am I Dead?" Well, it's the well-known comment people post when you haven't posted anything in a while, yet they say "Are you dead?" Well, no, I'm not dead, I've just been busy doing other stuff!
Anyway, today we've got the Origami Rotor from origami-instructions.com. This project is Modular Origami, which I haven't posted about in a while, so I figured I would. Yeah. So here I am, posting about Modular Origami! If you want to see my other posts about Modular Origami, go here. This Origami Rotor doesn't actually do anything, it just looks good. If you want to fold it, go here.
Oh, and I'm changing this website's name from origamithingsblog.blogspot.com to origami-things.blogspot.com in 10 minutes. Get ready!

Bye! I hope your day flies by!

Dollar Bill Origami: The Origami Dollar Ring

Okay, so I had pretty good inspiration for this post. Today I was at my desk, when I found a 2 dollar bill behind it. (For those of you who are not American, dollars are a big part of our currency!) I saw that it had a bunch of creases in it, and it reminded me of Dollar Bill Origami, which I haven't done in, like, forever! So I Google Searched "dollar bill origami" and got this: The Origami Dollar Ring!

Fear not! If you are not from the USA and don't have any dollar bills, just get out your ruler, pencil, and paper and cut a piece of paper with a Height of 66 millimeters (or 2.6 inches) and Width of 156 millimeters (or 6.1 inches) and then you'll be all set up! To fold the ring, go here.

A Few Fun Facts!

1. In the USA, it used to be that they only used coins, then they started giving people "Federal Reserve Notes" that when they showed them they'd get that much money. But the government ended up giving out too much of them, and they turned into the actual money! They still put the words "Federal Reserve Note" on them today!

2. The back of the 2 dollar bill is a picture of the signing of the Declaration of Independance!

Have a very rich day!

Independance Day Origami 2013: The Patriotic Paper Hat

The Independance Day Paper Hat! These are good for decoration, wearing, and whatever you want to do with them! :D To fold them, go here.

Have An Awesome Independance Day!
(Please note that I will not be posting tomorrow. I will be busy on Independance Day!)

Origami Faces

These are, well, faces! These faces were created by me, Asher, and are very simple to fold. You can probably tell this, but the one on the left is a boy, and the one on the right is a girl. I will be releasing instructions (and maybe a diagram) for this project tomorrow. Bye!

Have a good day!

Inkscape: The Ultimate Diagrammer!

The best Origami Diagrammer there is... inkscape!
Inkscape is a program that I recommend installing if you want to make Origami Diagrams. It is extremely useful, and can do many, many things. It isn't specifically designed for Origami Diagramming, but it works very well in doing so. It actually is designed for any sort of diagramming, along with editing photos, making graphs, and more (such as my website favicon, which I made with inkscape) ! When you first get it, inkscape can be very confusing. There are lots of tools and settings you need to know. Go to the How To Make Origami Diagrams page to learn more about inkscape!

To visit inkscape's official site, click here. To download inkscape for Windows immediately, go here. If that doesn't work, you can install inkscape portable for Windows (like I did) which is the same exact thing and comes with inkscape, here. To download for Windows as a 7zip file, go here. If you want inkscape for Macintosh, go here.

Thanks for reading this post! Have a good time Origami Diagramming!

Origami Star Wars (With Chris Alexander)

Star Wars, one of the most original movies I can think of, has many creatures, characters and things in it. There are endless Origami Projects you can make out of it. Like Chris Alexander. One of my most favorite folders of all time, Chris is a major fan of Star Wars and Origami! So why not combine the two? He made many projects, and put them all in his book, "Star Wars Origami" which you can order on amazon here. Chris Alexander has an official site, starwarsorigami.com, which you can also check out, though the website hasn't been updated for a long time, which you can especially notice when it says the book isn't out yet!

Have a good time checking out the site, and, if you choose to buy the book, the amazing Origami Star Wars Projects!

Origami Waterbomb Base Diagram

Okay, today I made a new diagram (which you may have noticed in the My Origami Diagrams page) . It's a diagram of the Origami Waterbomb Base, a simple yet extremely common Origami Base. It is he first complete Origami Diagram on this site that is by me, and you can see it in full at the My Origami Diagrams page on the top of the screen!

Hope my diagram is helpful! Please tell me what you think! Thanks!

Origami Star Wars Lightsaber (From "Star Wars Origami" A Book By Chris Alexander)

Hey guys! Today I've got something cool for you... Origami Lightsaber! I can't give you the instructions, but I can show you it! It's a very cool design from Origami Star Wars a book by one of my favorite folders... Chris Alexander!!! His lightsaber design makes it turn out kind of like a straw, but triangular, giving it a 3D look! Like I said, I can't give you the instructions, but if you want, I can give you the link to buy the book on amazon.com for $12.22 in US money if you go here.

Seeya next time, and may the force be with you!

Origami Unfoldable Box

The Origami Unfoldable Box is not just any regular box! You supposedly can't unfold this box, which is actually kind of weird, because someone commented on it, posting a video that shows that you can unfold the "Unfoldable" Box! Go here to see it!
Anyway, I'm still working on folding the Large Sonobe Cube. I'll post a picture of it when I'm done. I still haven't folded all of the units yet!
To fold this box, go here.

Have an "unfoldable" day!

To answer your question, I have no idea why I colored those letters like that... it's just fun!

Large Sonobe Cube

The Large Sonobe Cube, a version of the Sonobe Cube, is a great project to do! Made with Sonobe Units, just like the regular Sonobe Cube, this bad boy is actually pretty easy! To fold this project, go here!
Happy Folding!

The Origami Dog

The Origami Dog is a simple model but is actually very cute. It looks like you fold it out of 2 pieces of paper, one for the head, one for the body. But this guy is actually folded from one. The hardest fold in this model is the squash fold, and it's only a small one, so I definitely recommend this to those of you who are beginners! If you would like to fold it, go here.
Thanks for checking out the site today! See you tomorrow!

Undercover 8-Pointed Ninja Star!

Hey guys! I'm back with another Ninja Star! This time, it's the undercover 2-4-6-and 8-pointed undercover shuriken/ninja star!!!
I think I'm just going to say Undercover Ninja Star instead.
So, the picture above shows what it looks like in non-undercover mode, but when in undercover mode, it looks like, well, a donut. Go to the link to see what it looks like in donut mode, and how to fold it.
Thanks for reading the post today! I hope you enjoyed it! I definitely did!

The Table Racer

The Origami Table Racer, designed by Charles Esseltine, is a very cool Origami Toy! It glides across the table, like in the picture above. It's really fun, but just remember to use printer paper to make it, or it will be too light!
This project was found at happyfolding.com, and you can see the diagram here.
Have an awesome day!

Origami Tsuru Rose

Okay, so this is actually a cross between the Origami Kawaski Rose and the Paper Crane, and it looks beautiful! I found it on goorigami.com. It says that it is actually a pretty advanced model, so you might have to take a while to fold this one! And it also says that they recommend using a big square sheet of paper, because it ends up having many layers. Nevertheless, it looks very pretty, and it would be very good for decoration! To fold it, go here.
Have a good time folding the Tsuru Rose! See you tomorrow!

Clover And Hydrangea Tessellations

Hey guys! Today we've got a new thing about Origami that I've never posted before (because I've never heard of it until now!) ,  and it's called tessellation! To tessellate is to make a sort of mosaic out of paper, and it involves no cutting, so it's totally different to kirigami! I know, When I first looked at the picture above, I thought that they used cutting, too!
So the picture shows two designs, the clover (left) and the Hydrangea (right) , both of which are beautiful works of art! as you can see in the bottom corner, I got the picture from goorigami.com, a website I very much so like. You can got to the page that shows the Clover And Hydrangea here.
Thanks for reading this post! Any comments telling me more about tessellation would be welcome, because I just found out about it today, so I have a lot to learn!

Summer Origami: The Origami Dolphin

Hey! I'm back! Has anybody missed me? Well, this is going to be a good post, because it's all about Summer Origami! Summer is here! Raise your hand if you love summer weather! Oh, wait, this is a computer screen! :D Anyway, I have 2 Origami Dolphins for you. One for beginners (see the picture above) and one for advanced folders (see picture below).

The more advanced one looks better, because it's 3D, but it's very hard. The easier one is , well, easier, but doesn't look quite as good. You can pick which one you would like to fold! I folded the easy one!

Origami Slinky

This is a cool Origami Slinky, which you can fold right now by watching the video above. It has several units, but works very well as a slinky. This video is by Jo Nakashima, and if you need help connecting more units to this Origami Slinky (it takes a lot of units!) , he also made a video on how to do that:

I think I will definitely try to fold this, though it probably takes a long time to fold all of those units! If you finish it, if you'd like, you can send me a picture of it (email to contact.origamithingsblog@gmail.com) with your comments on it! Thanks!
Have a great Tuesday! Bye!

Note: This video was found on justorigami.com, in the "Origami Toys" section. To contact them, go here. Thanks, Just Origami!

Memorial Day Origami 2013: The Origami Eagle

This is a nice Origami Eagle, and I think it is perfect for Memorial Day! To fold it, go to the links section.

If any of you are american (like me) you'll probably know what Memorial Day is for. Just in case you don't, however, I'll tell you...
Memorial Day is about remembering the men and women at arms who's lives where taken for america. It is an important day, especially if one of your relatives has died in a fight for america.
If you aren't american and are wondering why I chose to do the Origami Eagle for this occasion, I'll tell you this: the eagle is basically america's mascot, and is very symbolic. I won't go into all of that detail now, but I'll just tell you that there's a lot of meaning behind it.

Thank you for checking out my blog on Memorial Day! I hope you enjoy folding the Origami Eagle!

I'm New To Origami Diagramming With Inkscape!

Okay, so I got this program called inkscape (www.inkscape.org) . And I'm making Origami diagrams with it. Here's a basic Origami diagram of a Valley Fold. Please comment and tell me how I'm doing! I won't be offended if you say I could be doing better or just flat out say it needs a lot more work... like I said, I'm new to Origami diagraming!

Please comment and tell me how you think! Thanks! Have the best Saturday ever!

P.S.
And don't say this diagram is super short... believe it or not, it took me an hour to do just that! I don't know how the people who make full Origami Diagrams survive!

Origami Pigasous

The Origami Pigasous, a divine pig that looks super cute and is very easy to fold. It's also extremely cheesy, but sometimes cheesy is good! +Lesley Collier introduced me to this funny pig, so we can all say thanks to her (even though in the last post she didn't want any credit! Well, sorry Lesley! :D) ! This little guy is based on the Pegasous, but it's a pig, therefor making it the Pigasous! The link to fold it is below.

Origami Phoenix

The phoenix is a mythical creature like a bird, but at death, it would burn into ashes, and out of the ashes would rise a new baby phoenix, that would redo this life cycle forever. I think that this creature is very symbolic.
Anyway, this Origami project is found on the same website as the last post. If you would like to fold it, then see the link below.
